Less than a week to go till I have to flee back to the snow and ice and I only yesterday night phoned UTchan.

UT: bangsat

Spent the first two weeks of my precious three week vacation doing various family stuff. Christmas prep, jetlagging, poking through my old stuff, much of which is gone to my abang's friends. T.T

The second week was spent being kidnapped by cousins to go to puncak, and various relatives houses . . . to play cards. Why we need to spent hours (both ways!) in the car to go to the mountains to play remy is a mystery to me. Ended up having to stay over at a cousin's the first night back from the mountains, then got dragged along to help buy 'oleh-oleh' (souvenirs) with yet another of them who was returning to the US before new years. Aftter that got dragged along to a kakak's new inlaw's for dinner

There was no 'pulang cepet'. We were there for hours. Got home was sick, recovered, had new years, was sick again. Was dragged off to play yet more remy (still sick as a dog). maybe they thought I'd lose easy! Bwahahahahaah~ kalo ada taruhannya beta takkan kalah tau!!! *langsung sembuh*

And now there's less than a week left and I haven't done anything I wanted to do except maybe buy some manga. (DNAngel! Get Backers!! Ghost!!!)

This is also the first time I could get online because I've been nowhere, let alone nowher with a netcafe. I finally configured my dial-up even if there's only a week left.

So sad . . . I don't really want to go back. (snow . . bleagh!) If i didn't have just one more semester and a dog, I'd stay.

home again

Back in the states. Feels very un-home-ish at the moment. Un-home-ish and too damn cold. Just got here. Am muy wasted. Fucking long haul flights. Why the mothers of small children sleeping across seats feel the need to put backrests all the way back is beyond me. No one was even usign the damn thing and it would have so spared my knees. My left knee, in particular, which hates not beign able to straighten out properly. Had to walk up and down the aisle, but it did nothing but get me looked at suspiciously. Huh.

Hassled by customs more so than usual. ><;

Had to undo the locks on my suitcases to re-check them after customs and then hand them over to some goof who rifles through your carefully packed stuff behind a partition. You don't even get to stand there and keep an eye on your junk anymore.

When I got my suitcase back, I noticed that they hadn't refastened the one remaining luggage strap (the first got pulled off somewhere between Jak and San Fran). The remaining luggage strap holding the stuff in my 3/4 filled bag in place. Oi.

At first I thought all my bajak2 anime was gone, but no, it had just shifted way down to the bottom. Haven't unpacked anything, but bet to hell all my manga is rumpled. *sniffle* DNAngel covers so pretty . . . . They better not be ruined!!!

Anyway . . .

Sorry I didn't get to meet you all, or any of you actually. between keluargaan and my damn stomach bug, I only got to see even my old friend once.

My comp graph proff gave me an A even though I didn't hand in +/- 3 assignments and handed in others way late. Same guy gave me an A for photography, even though I handed in sucky prints, and handed them in way way last minute, too.

Heh. Go figure. Must be my natural charm/talent. *kicked by readers*

manga happiness: the author of natane, best manga ever, has another work published by gramed: slow step, supposedly about softball. (not, it mostly focuses on high school relationships/life). It's got the same wacky humor as Natane, but falls somewhat short, maybe because of the considerably smaller cast (so far).

its nice to see, though.

And still laugh-out-loud funny.

New York

Jakarta has no snow. Thats definitely a high point. I can't wait to get out of here. It's "dangerously cold" out. So cold that the salt on the roads does nothing. Everythign just freezes over again almsot instantly. (Which means, btw, that the roads are covered by a layer of ice)

Jakarta

In Jakarta it's easy to daydream. Maybe it's because it's the city I grew up in. Maybe that makes it, for me, the place where a lot thoguhts start "When I grow up . . ." or "I'd love to go to . . ."

Before decision, all there is is posibility. For years I wanted to go somewhere else, see something else. Live some other life. It's pretty weird that now that I'm on my way, now that I'm out of that 'boring' city I want to go back. Not just back as in vacation. Being home for christmas wasn't the same.

I want to go back to that "One of these days" way of life I had before. Its so much more fun to dream with your friends than it is to find a path alone.

Know what else? don't IM people then expect them to carry the conversation. It drives people like me to nail-biting madness. What do I say? What do I say? IMs pop up and expect to be entertained without warning. I have no prepared material, no list of topics.

You see, what happened is gave a certain Yahoo Group my animanga/iyf/blog&site IM and now their members, many of whom I've spoken to outside of the group, many of whom I've never spoken to even at the group just pop in and IM. For no apparent reason. They say 'Hey', I say 'hey' and then the chat box sits there, open, expecting convesation.

Too much damn pressure.

Why IM me for no reason? Are other people pros at IMing with strangers? I'm not. What do you say to someone you know nothing about? Who knows nothing about you?

Gotta go now. Gotta make dinner. If I can think of a way to get out of this stale IM in a way that won't look rude or like I'm trying to get out of a stale IM.

The layout works fine for me. At least right now it is. Maybe under-funded tabulas has some glitches. Maybe I screwed up html, even though I haven't done anything in ages but add the link to shiroki.

How odd. Maybe it's browsers. Not that I'd know what to do about it even if it was and I knew what you guys were using.

next subject: I'm taking an online course this sem. in fact, that's what I'm supposed to be doing right now. Except the campus web page isn't very straightforward on what you're supposed to do an I'm confused.

one more time: kino no tabi

I want a Kino no Tabi layout. The only html I can do with any amount of success is tables, but I have a great, impossible to build, Kino layout in my head. Ah, if only I were ephi. *glares at ephi-san's layouts* Grr.

I need to learn css, I suppose. Na, is it hard, minna?

Surfing around for Kino pics I can rip off (success rate: 0 . . . ><; ), I kept finding blogs and whatnot of people who obviously know where to find the pics I want. T.T Sebel. Do I need to scan my animonster? XD I'm sure that'd come out great on my crappy scanner. With Animonster's slightly pics . . . and not even the pics I want . . . with text floating over them.

Aw, crap, I might as well do my course.

Anyway, it surprises me how many off those damn squuee-ing fangirls who profess to be huge fans of the series complain that Kino, at times, looks too girly. *Points at Animonster's article* Kino is a girl, travelling in the guise of a man who died to protect her. Not that I have any problem with 'he'-ing Kino. I 'he' Kino. It's just that people who profess to be fans should know these things.

Yes, I have magazines with anime articles. If you're here, you probably already know I'm a huge dork. XD A huge dork with a blog and no html skills. Yeah.

More Kino-ness: The art is muy pretty. Well, the non-anime art. The anime art has very simple lines, but me guesses is ok, too. Want pretty Kino layout. Huu-eh T.T

Apparently Kino's coming out here in the states soon as Kino's Journey, which, much as I'd like to, I can't bitch about because it's a pretty direct translation.

hideous amounts of snow

After a week being iced in (Roads too slippery and I live on a steep hill.) it's finally warmed up enough that the salted roads are actually drive-able. Until it started to snow.

And snow.

And snow.

Its above my knees in places.

And call me a wuss, but I don't trust white roads enough to want to try going downhill on them. Or, more to the point, up hill. We've had enough almost-didn't-make-it-home days to last me a few winters.

But tomorrow we must needs get to the bank or be food-less. Utilities kill, I tell ya. Especially in this cold. Getting into town's no problem. It's getting home that worries me.

Is the occasional snow plow passing through too much to ask for, really? Twice a day really isn't enough for this hill.

Well, not my roof. More like my doorframes. Apparently its because of ice built up on the roof, forcing melt water to go where it normally wouldn't, etc.

Anyway. Water's dripping off the doorframes in the kitchen onto the fridge and all over the back room. Suckness.

It's been neglected for hell llong, huh? I tried to sign in to add links and my id had expired. Its not in any lists or anything, because I never got around to it because I never finished the old fics up.

Akh. They're so silly and fannish. Fan girlish, even, since a lot of styles were subconciously copying what fanfiction I read online. Der~ ^^;

Haven't done fanart or fiction or anything much that school didn't demand of me for about, oh, a year and a half or more. It;s kind of strange. For someone who's been scribbling, and sratching away at all sorts os stories and pic since I could hold a crayon properly its kind of . . . weird.

When did I get so damn lazy?

Anyway. Layouts.

I can make them. I could make an okay one with illustrator. I did, after all, stay awake for most of an illustrator course. And anyway. I have an instruction book for ai.

Peh. Tell me how suck the background is. Honestly? Is my layout as bad as I think it is? ><; I stinky at this layoutting thing. Even this one is just tables on a background. The transparency on the boxes is from Ephi-san. Did you really think I could have figured that out myself? *snerks*

The point is: the scattering needs not only a catchier name, but a better layout. It's kind of flat, isn't it? Pheh.

getbackers & useicon

Made a new useicon using an image of daisuke. Hmm~ it looked ok on my paintshop, but once uploaded it turned sort of grainy. Hngeh. Ga jelas.

Watched Getbackers. can't figure out why Ginji calls Ban 'Ban-chan'. I always thought 'chan' was the honorific for an 'adek', a girl, or a 'kakak' if you're both little. But far as I can figure out, Ban and Ginji didn't meet until they were both older.

Never mind. I have no idea what I'm talking about. People who have a clue are also probably scratching their heads by now. ^^;;

Anyway, a different question about a different language.

You know the hide and seek counting chant thing that goes "tu wa ga pat ma nam do . . . something something . . .?"

This has stumped me for years because people call it so fast.

Tu=satu?
Wa=dua?
Ga=tiga?
Pat=empat?
Ma=lima?
Nam=eman?
Do?

Do? The next number is 'tujuh'. So why does this always sound like 'do' to me? Am I mis-hearing? Are sounds running together? Usually when people are calling this, you're not hanging around to listen. Also, they run it all together : Tuwagapat . . .

And after do--if it is 'do'? What then? You can't stop at 'tujuh' You need to go to ten. And I know theres more, but I could never remember/catch what they were. Not if my life depended on it. I always counted kosherly. "satu . . . dua . . ." People laughed at me for it. ^^;; ( kids suck T.T ) Anyway, they laughed if I counted "tu . . . wa. . . ga . . ." also.

--What the hell was I doing wrong all those years? Gar~

Knowing this could have spared me much hide-and-seek pain over the years. XD So someone please tell me what comes after 'do' and if it is 'do'.

dropped it from 75 to 65, because everyone told me theys was too dark.

How is it now? Is all the text still readable? All the useicons useiconish? Now you can see the maps through all the pics on quizzes and stuff, you know.

Not that any of you were ever terribly keen on my quizzes. Really, it's an activity for the egomaniac . . . . As if anyone cared what my anime hair color is. ^^;;

And yet . . . somehow . . . I feel a cool result makes me cooler. Just a little.

There are several reasons I don't like the friends function. I add people in my 'links' section in the right column, under the tagboard. I do 'friends' some people who use the occasional friends-only function for very private entries, but I don't read their entries on the friends page; I open their blog.

If we exchanged friends-ings and you didn't get a 'rurounibug has added you to friends' message, thats why. ^^V I just like it better this way.

Thats a lot of snow out there. >< Skipped class, because campus is crazy and wants us dead. Yesterday my car was sliping all over the place; today the roads are worse, thanks to the storm front.

Will need to get up disgustingly early to shovel my way out of it tomorrow if I plan on getting to psych. Already missed it once due to the slipperyness of roads and the lack of parking spaces.

So soon in the semester and already racking up absences. Ai.

Padahal . . . I was looking forward to watching the end of grav! Huks . . .

Not only was the vcd messed up, but I watched it on the TV and had to endure the comentator. Thanks Ebert-ototou, take your opinions elsewhere.



Also, that was the most unsatisfying ending ever. Is that it? Thats all? After all that crap, Shuu follows Yuki to Ny and its all ok? Ko gitu? And then he gets back just in time for his concert and Ryu takes his hand, and says something to the effect of, 'lets sing', or 'take my place', or something, and the end theme starts . . .

And then it hung, the bastard thing.

Anyway. Unsatisfying ending. Everything was resolved a bit too fast and a bit too easily after all the build up, all the running to NY, all the yuki, tohma, ayaka crap.

Someone tell me theres another episode.

Harhar. Jkun's area is still in a 'state of emergency' becuse of the snow. Nyah! Mock my buried driveway, will you?

Bright shiny day now. If the snow melts, my rook will start leaking again. T.T If the snow doesn't melt, well, it'll keep piling up, which might contribute to snow days, but most likely not--just my ability to attend them.

Last anime I watched was Gravitation. But I do have some getbackers, some spiral, something called zaion, some kare kano and a haibane renmei, all unwatched as of yet. Some because I'm streching them out as long as possible, some because they're dvds I bought here and when I hook my compi up to the tv, the screen plays, but not the subtext, and I refuse to watch them in dub. (ack! horrible!)

I could watch them on my comp, but its less fun to watch alone, and the laptop screen isn't very nice for multiple watchers. ><'

Getbackers is good, tho. Eh, thats a guy? O.o;; Ngaco!

wheres the sanctity?

Not that this is a big issue for me, personally, but every time I see an add for yet another dating/marriege the bachelor-tipe reality show, every time a celeb gets hitched, then annuled or divorced in record time, I gotta wonder . . . .

It doesn't look very sanctimonious. Doesn't seem very pure and holy, or even dignified, really--you've seen those photos Jay Leno pulls out, right? It's kind of insulting that people can tie the knot when they're so shit- faced they can barely tie their shoes.

Apparently, marriage is too holy for queers, but not too holy for publicity stunts or to be the grand prize on dating shows.

The lack of logic pains.

And yeah, I henceforth promise not to blog while watchign TV. Or, E, specifically. But I am watching the superbowl tomorrow, so it's all good and balanced. XD
