indoglish

Because I use a lot of Indo on this mostly English site, here's some lingo for the uninitiated:

abang=big brother
ade/adek=younger sibling (gender neutral)
bete/bt=a negative emotion, usually irritation or a bad mood
cewe/ce=slang for girls
cowo/co=slang for boys
ja'im (jaga imej/image)=guarding your social image
kakak (pronounced kaka')=older sibling (gender neutral, or female, depending)
--kak (ka')=honorific for older siblings or 'sempai'
kuliah/kul=college
gwe (sometimes gw, gue)=slang for I or me
SD=elementary school
SK (sometimes es-ka; setia kawan): solidarity, loyalty (among friends)
skul=school
SMA=high school
SMP=middle school
TK=kindergarten
wa=slang for I, me (same as 'gwe')

what are all those 2s? this is shorthand for a 'kata ulang' or repeated word. ngakak2 is read ngakak-ngakak= laughing very hard

any words that need to be added?

NaNo: Day Thirty

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I'm happy I made it, but sad that it's over. Oh, November.

(And this is how it ends.)

Unedited, of course, and keeping in the spirit of things, not even spell-checked. I'm already seeing things I want to change, cut, and add.

home wanted

If anyone knows of a good free webspace provider that won't screw up my layouts with unbearably ugly ads (I prefer pop ups to banners), please let me know.

I'm perfectly happy to just continue link to ffnet and ficpress, as I have been doing since the Laptop Dissaster of '05, but both sites have a fic-rating upper limit.

Also ffnet is eating all my asterisks and brackets, so until thats fixed, I'm not posting to either site. Because, hello, pain in the ass.

I've already tried for an f2o account, and never got a response. ;__;

I used to be on geocities, but that side-banner frame they've switched their pop-ups to is just too damn ugly.

I have a bravenet account, but I don't like their CP or their ad banner layout.

Suggestions?

Suggestions for good, relatively cheap pay account? (I prefer free ones, not so much because I'm a cheap bastard--which I am, but hey--but because even if I quit the site, the content doesn't dissapear along with my first missed payment. I have old geocities pages that are still accesible now, years after I've stopped using the url.)

ETA: Hello, awardspace. Please stay pretty. Want to take a peek at my half-built layout?

what one owes google

People keep hitting this blog off searches for RufusxReno fanfiction. So, I'm thinking, yeah, maybe I should do that.

Except I haven't really written fanfic in ages, and . . . well, if anyone has a premise, I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm not doing so well thinking something up on my own. Could be my brain is fried from NaNo. So if you're a lost googler, (or not) request away. Comments are that-a-way.

Just be warned I don't write druggie, drunk-ass, fanon ho!Reno.

Man's a turk, yo. And a turk's gotta have some dignity.

This IS work.

What appears to be Sephiroth (but is in fact a blood elf from World of Worldcraft) shows us how it's done in this vid. You go, Seph!

(sephiroth vs. vincent)

So, I found webspace. I'm putting pages up as I get the code done instead of trying to code everything and then going "Ta-DAH!" because the last time I did that, I lost, like 30+ pages of coded website and fic when the computer crashed.

Yeah, yeah. I hear you going "backup blahblahblah." No point making me feel bad now, okay?

If you go look, you'll notice the text is the same color as here on the blog. Thats because I only ever managed to code, like, one page, and just tweak fonts, colors, and table sizes to make new ones, and I haven't gotten to the text color yet. Also, you may notice that I have a weakness am a huge sucker for lame scripty fonts.

I have no excuse for that one.

However, input? Would be welcome.

call me 'daddy'

You are The Emperor

Stability, power, protection, realization; a great person.

The Emperor is the great authority figure of the Tarot, so it represents
fathers, father-figures and employers. There is a lot of aggression and violence
too.

The Emperor naturally follows the Empress. Like an infant, he is filled with enthuiasm, energy, aggression. He is direct, guileless and all too often irresistible. Unfortunately, like a baby he can also be a tyrant. Impatient, demanding, controlling. In the best of circumstances, he signifies the leader that everyone wants to follow, sitting on a throne that indicates the solid foundation of an Empire he created, loves and rules with intelligence and enthusiasm. But that throne can also be a trap, a responsibility that has the Emperor feeling restless, bored and discontent.

poligamy--I can't believe this is a controversi

So back at The Islands, Aa Gym, a religious leader, takes a second wife.

Indonesian women send angry text messages to President SBY in such numbers that it crashes the server. Other people--mostly guys, I reckon, by what I see on the internet discussions--protest that there can be good, just reasons for taking multiple wives.

(Pak Wong Solo: "If one wive is fair, then more wives is even more fair.")

Whatever. I could bring examples of arguments all day long. But most telling, I think, is that the protests came almost entirely from women, and the arguments for poligami largely from guys. Who are, once again, attempting to tell the world that its OK for women to live a life they themselves wouldn't want.

My country, I love you, but sometimes you are fucking embarassing.

-9r roughs

These are charachter roughs for charachters in my -9r universe. I'm a giant loser. Please ignore.

I only have two so far, and I'm not happy with how Sellis's turned out. But I draw on the train, and straight in fineliners, so I guess I can't complain about the craptasticness. It's just thoughts, and in progress.

Of course, Marsh is an older charachter, so I had a more solid idea of how I wanted him to look.

Not that these sketches are terribly clear or anything.

eta: That first one is really terrible. It looks even worse on-comp.

Must your health crisis interfere with my schedule?

My cousin who had major surgery at the begining of this semester is having major follow-up surgery on Monday. He was scheduled for later--I think Friday--but no, he'd have to take the opening.

*grumbles* *fixes house sitting bag so someone will be there to feed/let out the dogs*

I have finals, damnit!

the layout

Wanderlust v2. is a stargate layout.

The idea of the Stargate has always been one I liked: step through and wind up far, far away. It's Star Wars meets CS. Lewis's wardrobe.

Welcome to wanderlust--v2. out there
