Because I use a lot of Indo on this mostly English site, here's some lingo for the uninitiated:abang=big brother
ade/adek=younger sibling (gender neutral)
bete/bt=a negative emotion, usually irritation or a bad mood
cewe/ce=slang for girls
cowo/co=slang for boys
ja'im (jaga imej/image)=guarding your social image
kakak (pronounced kaka')=older sibling (gender neutral, or female, depending)
--kak (ka')=honorific for older siblings or 'sempai'
kuliah/kul=college
gwe (sometimes gw, gue)=slang for I or me
SD=elementary school
SK (sometimes es-ka; setia kawan): solidarity, loyalty (among friends) skul=school
SMA=high school
SMP=middle school
TK=kindergarten
wa=slang for I, me (same as 'gwe')
what are all those 2s? this is shorthand for a 'kata ulang' or repeated word. ngakak2 is read ngakak-ngakak= laughing very hard
any words that need to be added?

At the moment I can only get on--most of the time--from other folks' comps. That means no loggy into the blog or other sites of dubious or personal content.
Thats why I'm so absent.
Also, because I'm on break and too lazy to go use coffee shop or webcafe wifi. Anyway, nothing interesting happens on break. Unless you want to hear about how I sleep all day, then rouse sometime past noon to find coffee and see if I can roustle up some MTV Asia and then go back to bed.
Oh, vacation, I love you so.

this is obviously not my failing
For some reason, images I make in pshop look a lot darker on other monitors than on mine.
Oddly, I can't see any difference anywhere else--websites, d/l-ed images, skins, etc.
Its been suggested that my pshop settings might be screwy, but the images still look the same (that is, fine to me, but too dark elsewhere) even after being converted to gif, jpeg, or whatnot and viewed in other programs.

I'm a tropical guy. I do not like ze cold. 36 degrees, humidity at 90. Yeah, baby.
I can't really turn my apartment's heat up any higher than it is without edging into ridiculous and wasteful, but seriously. This winter thing? So not my thing.

my kingdom for some Zs
Its four thirty in the AM. I, of course, am wide awake.
School starts on Tuesday and my metabolism is still ass-backwards and not showing any sign of wanting to sync up to, y'know, actual daylight hours. At least I'm sleeping now, nevermind that its in the daytime. I far prefer it to rattling around the place wired from lack of sleep and catching only 2-hour snoozes at best.
Odd thing, going in the other direction is like nothing. Jetlag levels going that way are pretty much nada. Coming back this way, getting the system to match the timezone is like wrestling a--like wrestling something big. And stubborn.
Even my body knows where home is. Knows it down to the bones.

I mentioned this last year, but now I am oh so close to being able to buy this bee-ooo-ti-ful thing.
*makes wubbly eyes at it*
I got my new ID today and since they're changing from per-semester IDs to permanent ones, I managed to talk the guy into letting me re-take my photo.
Which came out just as bad as the photo that had already been on my file, but what hey. At least its equally bad in a better way.
