Because I use a lot of Indo on this mostly English site, here's some lingo for the uninitiated:abang=big brother
ade/adek=younger sibling (gender neutral)
bete/bt=a negative emotion, usually irritation or a bad mood
cewe/ce=slang for girls
cowo/co=slang for boys
ja'im (jaga imej/image)=guarding your social image
kakak (pronounced kaka')=older sibling (gender neutral, or female, depending)
--kak (ka')=honorific for older siblings or 'sempai'
kuliah/kul=college
gwe (sometimes gw, gue)=slang for I or me
SD=elementary school
SK (sometimes es-ka; setia kawan): solidarity, loyalty (among friends) skul=school
SMA=high school
SMP=middle school
TK=kindergarten
wa=slang for I, me (same as 'gwe')
what are all those 2s? this is shorthand for a 'kata ulang' or repeated word. ngakak2 is read ngakak-ngakak= laughing very hard
any words that need to be added?

it's almost that time of year again
The NaNoWriMo forums are up for 2007, and the forums back online. I just reactivated my account, so I guess I'll see you there, eh?
So this year, same as the last: A different one of these, or a sequel to Pieces?
And it doesn't matter if the backwork looks lacking. I work that out as I go.
PS. The new tabulas archive format is now grouped by year instead of as one long list. Nice. I could do without the 'page created/edited' on the bottom of the content pages, tho.

When I grow up I wanna be a Ghost Hunter.
Except I'd be a really, really lousy Ghost Hunter. When the trailer for The Messengers came on at the beginning of a dvd, I reflexively fled the room, grabbing the remote to try to skip ahead from hall.
Except I play dvds on the Playstation, so the TV remote doesn't actually do anything. In my panic, I totally forgot about that, and had to wait out the entire trailer, having power only over the volume/mute.
In hindsight, I realize I could have changed the channel off input, in order to get close enough to skip ahead on the dual-shock without having to see the scary instead of, you know, peering around the corner every so often to see if it was over yet.
It was a really, really long trailer, too.
I didn't used to be scared of creepy, ghosty movies, but The Ring broke me. There used to be one Sadako . . . and then there were two, OMGWTF.
The Ghost Hunters were in SF over the summer. I know not only because it was their season premier, (OMG, I have seen a shadow person like the Presidio one, OMG, I WISH THERE WAS SOMEONE TO HOOOOOOOOLLD MEEEEEE~ ) but because a friend of mine met them.
I HAVE THE ENVY.
D: And they were really cool, and I talked to them for, like, ten minutes.
Me: I hope you only met the suck one. What's his name?
D: I ran into Steve over on Post.
Me: Damn you.
D: And then I saw Jason and Grant down on Market, and I was like "Hey, Ghost Hunters!" and they were all, "Oh, Hey," and they were really awesome.
D: They were here for over a week.
POST IS RIGHT BY BUILDINGS I HAVE CLASSES IN ALL THE TIME,, WHY DID I NOT HAVE CLASSES THERE OVER THE SUMMER?! D:
Me: You suck. I hate you now. You are no longer my freind. Don't even sit by me.

All together now!
A forum I hang out on is all doing NaNo together in a shared world. Or around 3-4 of us are, at the last Count of Fools. To whip up enthusiasm (an so we can recognise each other on the NaNo forums, considering some of us are inconsistent about nicks) I whipped up some banners.
I loaded one to my NaNo sig, but at the moment it's not showing up. So assuming I ever figure out whats wrong with my code/the forum finally loads profile edits, comments are welcome, especially on the colors, as my monitor's wonkiness is still wonktastic.
(obviously, I am excited about November)

Other people get excited about conserts and Disneyland.
I have to write the keynote file for the eL shared world, but I'm kind of lazy to do it because now that we're pretty certainly going to be doing the shared world project, I don't really feel like doing anything about it on my own.
Other than making endless banner variations, I means.
I'd really much rather YIM, PM, and forumpost about the world building than sit down and put those discussions into refference-able notes.
I'm also getting really frustated that no one is posting about this as much as I want them to be.
Life? Where do I download that? It better be freeware.

I am a pirate.
My brother just called to ask if I'd jacked his book the last time I was home. I pointed out that that was a year ago.
Him: Yeah. Well. I saw you reading it.
You'd think that I just went around shoving anything that caught my passing interest into my suitcase like some kind of broad-interest squirrel.
Him: Oh. Weird. It must be around here, then.
I asked where he last saw it, but he doesn't remember where he might have put it, but he remembers me reading it a year ago.
I am not sure whether or not to take offense at the idea it's "weird" that I am not the cause of his missing property.
