I know I've fallen off the radar, but I'm alive and kicking and just been very lazy. Logging on from the third world is a pain in the ass, and when I was down at the warnet last week, there was a blackout and I didn't feel like sitting in the dark anymore waiting for them to get their router back online.

I'm being eaten alive by mosquitos and my efforts to kill them isn't even making a dent despite the floor around me looking like some sort of insect killing field.

There's not that much else to tell. Yesterday on the way home I shared the road with what appeared to be an Islamic biker gang--with mosques embroidered onto their black jackets and carrying flags and everything--which was a little bizarre and more disconcerting than it would it have been had it not been the middle of the night and had my cab not been tailgating like a psychopath.

don't leave home

I'm back in the US now, and I wish I wasn't. My calendar is still turned to December 2007 with the 18th marked in pink sharpie "Goin' Home!!" My alarm clock is still set to wake me for the airport shuttle on the morning of the 18th.

Unless I come down with dengue in a week's time from being mosquito swarmed, it'll have been like I was here all along.

dispirit

I have a year of school left, and I've come to realize that I don't really like animating. It was interesting, and fun, and may even be useful at some point down the line, and it's certainly made me look at options I never would have otherwise, but in the end it's really illustration where I should have been in. It's the drawing, painting classes that still get me excited much more that moving verts and making fucking with lights.

I don't regret what I've learned, exactly, only what I don't know and wish I did.


. . . Yeah, I could do a grad, but thats two more years, at least. I'm tired an' I want to go home.

Soeharto dead at 86

I don't really know how to feel. I'm sart of dissapointed that he waited till I was gone to kick off, because I like to be where the action's at. And alright, because I'd been following the kidney failure, lung failure, intubation, progress, setbacks, etc all Xmas long.

I like the gossip. I'm a horrible person, I know.

Of course, the discussion everywhere now is whether or not to forgive the man because of how much he did for the country. And how much he did to the country. Who know how that balances out? A human rights activist poster said, "Forgiveness when you can return to us the lives of our parents, our siblings, our friends, that you took from us."

That seems fair.
